Streets of Beijing

For hundreds of years, China was a closely guarded secret. When I was little, I used to hear my father tell stories about how China has remained secretive and “close” to the world. Since my father left China when he was only 4, this place remained a mystery to him.

One of the things that I regret in my life, until this very moment, is that I was not able to bring my father back to China, to trace his roots, to visit relatives. Just to embrace the place where he first saw the light. I wish my father were still alive. I would bring him to the Great Wall, to Tiananmen Square, to the market, everywhere.

I took this photos with my father in mind. I want him to see what and how China has become today. How progressive it is. I am sure my father would be very proud of this country.

Pa,  o, tingnan mo, ang unlad na ho ng bansa nila.

The famous Silk Market or Silk Road. Similar to our Greenhills Tiangge.

Tea sets. I bought the yellow set for RMB60, down from their initial price of RMB180.

Parang ayaw kong huminga dahil sa smog.
