A glass top fell on my foot

While shopping in Homegoods Las Vegas,  I saw this wrought iron side table with round glass top.  Without thinking, I picked it up and loaded it in my cart. It was quite heavy.

There was a long queue to the cashier.  When I was already at the front line, I heard the recorded announcement “Cashier number seven please”
Homegoods store, cashier number 7

TJmaxx and Homegoods in Vegas

I pushed my cart to go to cashier number 7.  Before I knew it, something heavy hit my left foot.  It jolted me so much that my body shook from pain.  When I looked down,  I saw the glass top rolling on the floor but to my surprise, it didn’t break.  I couldn’t move for a few minutes.  I stood there trying to manage the intense pain and control my tears.  I wanted to cry out loud.  Whaaaaaa ang sakitttt!!!!

I was already crying from the inside but I was too embarrassed to show it.  All the cashiers and the other customers had their eyes on me.  I slowly walked to cashier number 7, with a limp.  I removed my left shoe and found my foot bruised.  I was still shaking from the pain.   It was really so very painful.  Grabe sa sakit. Gusto ko na talagang umupo at mag-iiyak.  I just tried to compose myself and pretend kaya ko ito.

The cashier asked me if I still wanted to buy the table. Of course not!!!

My tears started falling as soon as I got out of the store’s door.  I cried aloud when I reached my car.  Awang-awa ako sa sarili ko.  I felt like a little girl in need of some good motherly care at that moment.  To ihip my foot because it was just so painful.  Sakit talaga.

  1. OMB,

You could sue Homegoods, it is a law in America, that you could sue them,

    1) especially when you show to the doctor for check-up and treatment, the narrative of the doctor could be used as your evidence.
2.) Another evidence that you could used is to take pictures of your bruised foot.

    3) In addition you could also sue the maker of the products, that table.

    4) Last but not the least, you could sue them for pain and suffering.

    1. Dear Dee,
Thank for your concern and for the information you provided in my email. I contacted a lawyer while I was in Vegas and they were not interested. maybe because this was too little a case for them.
I will evaluate my options and what I want to do.
      Thanks again.
