I had a full schedule last tuesday. There were many job applicants scheduled for interview on that day. But midday I felt the urge to visit Sister Gloriosa. I phoned first and asked what they needed. Notebooks and uncooked rice.
I cut short the interviews and passed on the remaining applicants to the department managers.
Oyen and I had a quick lunch in Alphaland then I braved the hour traffic from Makati to Divisoria.
I went to 168 again. That’s where I bought the school supplies for the street kids last year.
Meron na akong suki doon sa may entrance.
This time I bought 200 pieces of school notebooks only.
Walang kwentang picturan yung notebooks, eto na lang, Japek na Hermes with Hello Kitty bling-bling pa. Nice no?
This parking building was beside 168. Merong elevators. I would like to bring Edmund here one day. We need something like this in Cainta.
We always got lost everytime we went to the Alay ng Puso. Nakakalito kasi yung mga kalye.
We stopped here and asked for directions. We interrupted their rest and relaxation.
At long last, we’re here. Alay ng Puso compound in Tondo
I brought the notebooks to the Missionaries of Charity or Alay ng Puso in Del Pan, Tondo. I had no time to buy bigas so I just gave Sister Gloriosa some money to buy rice. She was excited to see me.
Sister Perla had been transfered to another country and Sister Gloriosa is now the Madre Superior.
They invited me to go inside the nursery and see the kids. These kids are well taken cared of. They are bathed and fed. They have 24 hour nannies that make sure their needs are attended to. Those needing medical attention are brought to hospitals and there are also medical practicioners that monitor the children’s health conditions.
Sister Gloriosa is Korean. She speaks Tagalog and has been living in the Philippines doing missionary work for the past 15 years.
These kids are not orphans. Their parents come and visit them every now and then.
A group of people were camping out at the missionaries’ gate.
I asked why they’re there? The couple looked young and healthy. I told them to look for jobs.
Woman—– “minsan nagbibigay ng tinapay yung mga madre, tinapay lang, eh busog na kami…”
Me——– Mabuti merong tinapay, pagkain rin yun, pasalamat kayo”.
(Naku po, mapili pa pala ito)
I left a small amount of money with Malou and when time comes you visit again this charity institution let me know and I will tell Malou to give a share. I salute your good deeds and will be happy to be a little part of it!
Thank you Thony. Malou gave me P2,000 last December, is this the one?
Hi, Ma’am. is there a parking space?
None that I know of.
