I booked a table for 6 px at the ancestral home in Pasay City of fashion designer Malu Veloso. It was supposed to be an advanced birthday lunch for my daughter. Before digging into her home cooked dishes, she toured us around her parents’ sprawling home. I didn’t know that her father was a national artist, Architect Pablo Antonio, Sr.
If I am not mistaken, their house is recognized as an architectural legacy of Filipino architects.
Koi pond right inside the house, beside the dining area
His house is open in all sides, no windows to close.
Architect Pablo Antonio was declared a national artist in 1976. he designed the White Cross Hall, De La Salle Chapel, Far Eastern University, Orchid Garden Hotel, etc.
Imagine, he designed pala the Ideal Theater. My mom always mentioned this place everytime she would talk about actor / comedian Dolphy. This was where he performed. Ang tawag nila: merong vaude ville.
The Manila Polo Club in Forbes Park was built in 1950 at a cost of P1.8 million. Ngayon, P13,000,000 for one club membership only.
