We were an hour late. Instead of leaving the house at 9 am, we left at 10 am then turned back because we left something. Then we swung by a Jollibee outlet in Quirino Highway to buy 6 trays of family pan spaghetti.
Sister Monica called at 10:30 to ask where we were because the children were already hungry. She didn’t cook because I promised to bring them food.
It’s easy to find the Missionaries of Charity, in Tondo, Manila after crossing the Del Pan Bridge, turn right on the first corner, and it’s right there.
We arrived at 11:30 am. Sister Joy and Sister Monica welcomed us. Sister Monica remembered and greeted my daughter happy birthday. She also gave Oyen a prayer stampita and pendants of Mother Theresa, the founder of the Missionaries of Charity.
Sister Monica is from Bangladesh while Sister Joy is from India. The last time I was here, I was received by Sister Gloriosa who’s now in Papua New Guinea.
We brought the food inside and started serving the little kids their meals right away.
The children are behaved. The nuns are doing a good job in caring and training them.
Sister Monica specifically requested for chicken adobo, rice and juice.
They are very disciplined. They never stood up while they were eating. They said thank you, and used po and opo in their sentences. Even those who could not speak straight yet could utter opo.
Oyen brought some clothes and slippers for them too.
Lawrence loves spaghetti. His mother and two siblings also live in the center.
No problem feeding him. He didn’t need any assistance while eating only when he wants another serving of spaghetti.
It was a meaningful and fulfilling way of celebrating Yen’s birthday.
A great way to celebrate one’s birthday. An exemplary one! God Bless Oyen and the rest of the Yee-Tan Family! Have a great one!
