The much awaited event during Zurich’s spring festival is the burning of the snowman called BOOGG.  It sounds morbid but that is the culmination of their year-long preparation. To blow-up snowman’s head is so violent, poor guy, the people of Zurich couldn’t wait to see him obliterated  in such catastrophic fashion. They still love snowman, but it’s all about saying goodbye to winter, which snowman represents.

The sooner his head explodes the better summer will be.
Their tradition dates back to the 16th century where they believe that the Boogg can predict what kind of summer is coming depending on how long he burns till his head disintegrates. On April 8, it took 17 minutes and 45 seconds which hints a mild summer, not so hot.
