Buti I didn’t catch fire

I left the office a bit earlier so I could swing by the grocery to pick up a few things.

I felt so frustrated when I couldn’t read the labels, the ingredients. Parang I would be buying blindly, not knowing what I would be eating.

Even when I moved it closer to my eyes, I couldn’t see the words. The fonts were very small.

salad dressing, grocery

I got two pieces of fresh mackerel, salmon, lettuce, bananas, etc.
Edmund and I like the mackerel served in Japanese restaurants.

As soon as I got home, I asked Antonia to cook one mackerel. Butterfly it (daing style) and fry na lang para mas mabilis.

Antonia was grilling some pieces of chicken. Covering them helps cook the meat faster.

I also instructed Jessica to wash the lettuce. I told Edmund kasi we would skip rice and just eat salad.

Naku pooo, slow motion sya. Parang dinadasal bawat dahon. Edmund was already waiting.
OMB———-“Jessica, ngayon na kami kakain, bilisan mo ng konti.
Sa bagal mo baka bukas ka pa matapos”.

Antonia placed a big pan on the stove kasi daw the fish is long. When the oil was already very hot, Antonia dropped the fish in the pan, I was standing right in front of the gas range, holding the pan’s glass cover. Before I knew it, 3 ft. high flames engulfed the pan. The oil must have splattered out when Antonia dropped the mackerel, Buti na lang I didn’t panic. I covered the pan and turned the valve to low heat.

I have a delayed reaction. This morning I started shaking. The thought that my dress could have caught fire just like what happened to my yaya when I still a baby scared me to death. What if I caught fire?

Before I left for the office, I told Antonia to be careful when she’s cooking. Not to drop fish or whatever into the pan high enough for the oil to splatter.

Antonia——– “Masyado kasing mainit yung kawali”.
OMB———— “Syempre mainit dahil may apoy. Mag-iingat ka Antonia, buti na lang hindi ako umapoy”.
Antonia——– “Nagmamadali kasi ako”.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Basta nya ibinagsak yung mackerel sa pan.

I am trying to shake off my head the image of that fire in front of my face. My chest is now pounding just thinking about it.
