Bye Vienna, Hello Bratislava

We have a relaxed breakfast and warm goodbyes to our tourmates. Tonight they fly back to Manila.

Checked out of RADISSON blue in Vienna
Ten mornings of eating heavy  breakfasts.  My stomach needs rest.

Bye room.  Thank you for three nights of relaxation and good sleep.

Bye kababayan Willy.   Thank you for your hospitality.

A chauffeured van brings us to Bratislava.

This looks like an alien’s spaceship.

The ride from Vienna to Bratislava is only two hours. We’re here in no time at all.

The van driver lives about 10 minutes from here. He will come back after 90 minutes to pick us up.

I’ve been here twice both in 2015, first with my sister and my kids, and the Federal Phoenix Assurance group led by Ramon Dimacali (+). The send was in November of that same year with Len and Bingbing. Both were only for a short walk-around, photo ops, and go.

I am back here for the third time because I want my husband to reach another country in Europe, Slovakia.   Its capital Bratislava is very near Vienna and along the way to Budapest. It’s at the border of  Austria and  Hungary and the only national capital that borders two sovereign states.

The name Bratislava, which had been used only by some Slovak patriots, became official in March 1919 after the revolution, with the aim that a Slavic name could support demands for the city to be part of Czechoslovakia. (from Wikipedia)

We’ll have a few pictures then we will look for a place to have lunch.

Bratislava, Slovakia

This town feels quaint and small but it’s actually the largest city in Slovakia with almost 700,000 people and it receives a million visitors annually before the pandemic.

Medieval towers and 18th-century buildings are preserved.   Ukraine has equally beautiful historical edifices like these but most are now destroyed due to the Russian invasion.  I hope and pray nothing like that ever happens again in any part of Eastern Europe.

European cities are designed with a town center or a square.   I personally believe that this gives the residents a sense of balance.  They will not get lost.  They know where to go.  Physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

Many people say Theo looks like his lolo.  The lolo disagrees, mas gwapo naman daw si Theo.
