Two beams in our garage were retroffited to strengthen them. They carry the heaviest load from the top floors.
It was a fairly inexpensive, simple and easy process of putting or winding an inch thick of carbon fiber strands on the reinforced concrete beams. We are planning to have the other beams and posts undergo the same method to increase the seismic capacity of our whole house. This carbon fiber retrofitting process requires less inconvenience to building owners and occupants and is more cost effective.
Every 5 pm after the workers have left, the maids wash the whole garage flooring to remove the dusts.
