I found out that here in the US, some people (women) in particular, totally change their home decors according to season or occasion, most especially for the Christmas holidays. I admire those who have the energy to do that. You need a few things to pull that off: hands, muscles, storage, money, talent, energy.

To wrap, unwrap, box, carry, store in crates, buy new items, decorate nicely, and do it all over again, to me is a daunting task. In the Philippines, when I opened the boxes, ay alikabok. The decors must either be washed or dusted off. Even those that were wrapped in plastic, medyo nag aamoy luma na because of the humidity.

I find it hard to preserve expensive decors. They either are lost or broken.

Lately, I’ve been exercising restraint not to like the Christmas decors too much that I’ve been seeing in stores. I try to condition my mind “naku, twenty dollars isa plus tax pa, and how many do I need, 50 pieces, ang mahal naman nyan”.
“Wow, ganda nito, thirty dollars plus tax. Ay kakalat lang yan”.
“Oh my this is so cute. Twenty four nine nine isa? Naku mawawala lang yan”.

I’ve been successful in resisting buying holiday plates. Kasi once lang gagamitin tapos itatago lang buong taon. The end result, I am able to keep my credit card intact in my wallet (so far).

I have to be honest. I am in love with these crystal glasses.

$175 / pair x 4 pairs = $700 + sales tax 8.75% = $761.25 x P51.77 (credit card exchange rate) = P 39,409.91 minus 25% off = P29,557.43 or P 3,694.68 per glass.
“Naku, baka mabasag lang yan”.
