The only oyster variety that I am confident eating up to a dozen is the one from Hog Island Oyster.
I don’t like the large ones served at buffets. I also don’t like the standard off the shelves seafood cocktail sauce that most restaurants serve with their oysters. In my opinion, the vinaigrette at Hog Island compliments oysters best.
We don’t mind driving for an hour to reach Napa Valley to satisfy my craving. My son shares this love of mine. Edmund likes oysters too but he is afraid to have a bad tummy and he knows that oysters have high bad cholesterol so when we order oysters at restaurants, they are more for me. Sometimes he eats one piece just to show me he is eating but that’s about it. Just one. He leaves the 11 pieces for me.
Waiting for a table took around 45 minutes.
One piece for Mister Tiger Yee, 12 for me, 11 for me. O bakit lumampas ng one dozen? Because we reordered another dozen. Grabe ang takaw ko. Palusot: the oysters were small in size. Liit lang.
Cheese melt sandwich for Edmund. This is also what Oyen orders when she’s with us. She doesn’t eat oysters.
They call the clams Manila clam. Their clam chowder used to be flavorful. This past few years it has lost that wow at first subo. You know when the food is good. The second it touches your mouth your taste buds scream WOW it’s delicious. The creamy soup needs more seasoning in my opinion.
Double-masking is our family mandate.
