Disappointing Dinner @ Senju Restaurant

Two days before Valentines

Oyen——–“Where do you want?”
A———–“Somewhere near lang anak, baka traffic”.
A———–“Madison, or yung Japanese restaurant beside Paparazzi, sa Edsa Shang”.
Oyen——–“Madison is full. Senju”.
A———–“Masarap ba dun anak? I haven’t been there”.

Oyen was able to reserve a table for 7:30 pm.

February 14, 2015 Saturday
The Holy Mass ended at exactly 7 pm. Maikli lang yung sermon nung pari.
By 7:10 pm, we were already on our way to the hotel.

E———–“Ang aga pa natin”.
There’s no traffic around SM Megamall, what a miracle.

Edmund bumped into some guy in the lobby. He’s a golfer too.
The fellow asked me “okay na ba yung health mo?”

I asked Edmund how did this guy know about my operation?
E———“Baka sinabi ni Bobby”.

We got to the restaurant before 7:30 pm.

Rose petals for romantic effect. When I see scattered rose petals, parang I imagine this is a prelude to some bed activities. Para bang gusto kong mag hubad, at matulog.

We haven’t finished eating the foie gras appetizer and yet they immediately served the sushi boat which crowded our tiny table.

Two appetizers.

I only ate the salmon sushi roll. I don’t eat raw meat and fish.

We haven’t even finished the appetizers that they crowded our table with, they served us the seaweed salad right away. Tinambak na sa table namin. The waiters were in a hurry to serve us everything in the pre-fixed menu so we could finish our food by 8 pm. So they could give the table to the next turn. $%^&$#@. We were so disappointed and felt disrespected. Dito sa Senju, we’re paying P6,000 for our meal and yet we did not feel important.

I told Edmund, pag dinala dito yung soup, aawayin ko talaga sila.
True enough, here comes the waiter with two big bowls of soup. I told him
“Waiter, we haven’t finished our appetizers yet….why are you going to serve that? Intayin nyo munang matapos namin itong appetizers”.

Waiter——“Mam, ibalik muna?”
OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!

E———–“This is not worth our money”.

The table is tiny, with the appetizers, condiments, plate chargers, glasses, appetizer plate, where did that anak ng tinolang waiter expect to place the two big bowls of soup? Under the table?

A———-“Tart, bagalan natin ang kain”.

Maya’t-maya titingin-tingin sila. I purposely stared back with a dagger look so they would get the point. Nakaka-kulo ng dugo itong mga ito. Whoever gave these waiters that instruction to rush customers? The manager? The chef? Very bad discretion. Very offensive.

After we’re done with the appetizers, the waiter served the soup. Aha! it’s the same soup, they just put it aside, lumipas na yung init, at yung froth.
I rejected them. I told him to bring us new ones.

Then I saw the suit-wearing manager and the waiter peeking from the wall, looking at me, I caught the waiter pointing at my direction.

I gave them an angry stare.

Edmund called the manager.
E———“Excuse me are you the manager?”

Edmund told him while we understood where they’re coming from, para maka two turns yung table nila, pero wag naman yung ganun na inaapura nila kami ng kain. “Wala naman kami sa fastfood”. “Parang bastusan naman ang ginagawa ninyo”.

They are ruining what’s supposed to be a romantic Valentines dinner.

The main course is grilled cod fish with rice. They should have been called COLD FISH instead. Obvious that they’ve prepared all this set menu in advance. The rice is not good at all, walang ka-lasa-lasa and the grains have hardened, kasi nga malamig na. It’s very cold.

Despite a wrong choice of restaurant, we still tried to appreciate our Valentines dinner together, the 37th in all.

  1. How disappointing especially for the price and on a holiday. It looks like a fancy place but, even the nicest space cannot hide bad food and service. Restaurant owners should realize that people eat out for the experience of it, not just to fulfill hunger. An otherwise disappointing evening saved by good company!
