Note: It is very unfortunate that my site crashed twice in 2011 which wiped out most of the photos. Please go to my more recent post dated November 30, 2015, titled UST Glowing Goldies Basketball Album

I would like to tell you about   my husband.   We were classmates  in college.  I always saw him carrying a huge bag.    I didn’t know that he was a basketball player in school kaya pala he always had a big bag to put all his stuff.

When my mother first saw him,   nagulat ang mama ko.  When Edmund entered our house,  my mom was standing by the dining table.   She was 5′ or 5’1″ tall.    She looked up,  she saw this 6’1  1/2″,  dark and skinny guy.    She was not at all impressed.

When I first watched the UST vs  UE  game at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum,  I was  scared to look at him kasi he was so skinny,  baka kulelat lang sya.  During the round robin just  before the game started,  the few times I looked at his direction   I saw him missed the shot,  rolled on the floor,  stumbled down.   That made me conclude hay naku,  kulelat nga.   Yun pala he played very well ,  so well,  that he was the  MVP  Awardee.

Together with his teammates Ed Cordero, Frank Natividad, etc.  They gave UST a fighting chance.  But came the final game,  Ed Cordero got sick.  Napilay yung team kaya talo.

UE’s star player then was Rudy Distrito who actually became my husband’s kumpare.  Rudy’s eldest daughter Sweet is my husband’s inaanak sa binyag.

Simply UST

Wow, ang luma na.

MVP

He was chosen to play for the  (Philippines)   RP Youth Team.

He also played for the Crispa Redmanizers.

He did not pursue going pro.   Events took away his focus from basketball.

  1. I’ve been studying architecture for over 20 years. It is safe to say that this USTbuilding is the most aspiring one on the planet. Visit it once and you will agree with me!

  2. Great read , yeah i remember Edmund Yee part of the deadly Goldie threesome of Ed Cordero ,Frankie Natividad in the late seventies..Edmund Yee is perhaps the best pure shooter in the Collegiate ranks who didn’t played in the Majors,,as ive remembered then ..he was often ill as Coach Turo Valenzona used to say and eventually was placed on the reserved list at the last minute prior to Rp team’s departure in the 1980 Asian youth Tournament..that’s the last time we heard of Edmund Yee..Ed Cordero and Francisco Natividad made it to the PBA..But Edmund the deadliest three point shooter of the lot couLd have made it big in the PBA..

    1. Oh wow, you have a very good memory. Thank you for the kind words about Edmund. I will share with him your comments and I am so sure he would be very flattered.
