Edmund’s been coughing due to an itchy throat so we spent our morning slow. After breakfast, we just rested in the room. We left at 3 pm for a plant tour.
After our short visit to Energreen Corp.’s office, we proceeded to an educational tour of the power plant facility of Central Negros Power.
My husband was greatly inspired by what he had seen. He spent time with the engineers asking a lot of questions trying to understand the complicated operation of running a power plant. One of the engineers said “ang hirap ng mga tanong ni sir”. I told him, I would leave him behind so he could work there, with no salary. Aba tila gusto yata.
Looking at the different kinds of machines and tools reminded me of my father. I grew up seeing lots of things like this in our garage and in his small workshop called kamalig.
We were impressed and particularly proud of what the man behind CENPRI has singlehandedly accomplished. An incredibly talented person who is determined and focused on what he wanted to do despite insurmountable odds. Kind, selfless, resilient, and extremely generous to a fault.
Looking at the gigantic structures I didn’t even understand what they were about, I was teary-eyed. His parents would have been very proud to see this. They’ve always been proud of their third son. He was the most organized, responsable at masunurin among their 6 children that’s why he was the favorite child of Fely. All his siblings didn’t mind. He was also their favorite.
I told him “K…….ang galing mo naman, nagawa mo lahat ito. Hindi ko ito kaya, simple lang ang alam ko.” He smiled and laughed and said “ang laki ng hirap ko…” I could tell. Building a power plant is no joke. Not everyone can build something like that. You cannot find a better example of the meaning of talent, hard work and determination. All three I don’t possess.
In two weeks he would be celebrating his 72nd birthday. His mother liked to complain that he and his brothers didn’t even know how to change flat tires or do simple auto repairs. She blamed the father for not teaching their sons. But look, look what he could do despite not learning how to change flat tires. God gave him the ability to do more complex things. His mother must be smiling in heaven.
I saw a feature on them in the papers a week after you left. They were given some sort of award. Congratulations to your k!!!
Salamat gid Cecile.
