English pronunciation

I had very good pronunciation 20 years ago. Now, my diction is taking on a new level- pababa ng pababa. Pasama ng pasama.
My daughter gets so frustrated correcting me.

“Ma, it’s mi-di-yum, not mijum”.
She caught me kasi when we were in Robinsons Galleria. We were in the undergarments section on the second floor. I said “Miss, meron kayong mijum?”

Di ba Tagalog ng Medium ay Mijum?

“Ma, will you please stop saying me-jo-keyr? It’s mi di yow ker.”

And I notice, it’s not only me. Some people have worst pronunciation than mine.
Is that misery loves company?

Examples:
1. We were in Wilcon Builders in C5. There’s an escalator leading to the second floor.
I asked one of the staff at the corporate account section:
“Anong meron dun sa taas?”
He replied “Tsan-de-le-yer at per-ni-chur”.
Slang sya ha.

2. At Megamall, I was looking for the J.Co donut store. I approached a woman walking by.
“Miss, alam mo ba saan yung donut na J Co?”
She didn’t know. She turned to her companion “Deng, dow-nat, hmmm, third fler? I think it’s therreee, third fler”.

3. Reading morning newspaper. I couldn’t read the telephone numbers in one of the CCTV advertisements. I called one of our maids to read to me the numbers.
Me———- Basahin mo yung telephone numbers, ang liliit hindi ko mabasa.”
Maid——– Di na meks …
Me——— Telephone number, eto o, basahin mo.
Maid——- Et, Et, Seks, Por, Seks Seks…
Me——— Ano?

Ang aga-aga puro seks na agad.

4. I’ve interviewed several female job applicants this week for Customer Service. They’re all college graduates mostly of Business Administration.

Bio-data on my desk

Job applicant #1
Me————- “Whose address is this? Where is this?
#1———— “En da rever”.
(Naku baka umulan ay maanod ang bahay nila)

Job applicant #2
Me———– “What does your father do?”
#2———– “In the fah-ther…”
(yung una in the river, ito naman in the father, baka yung next Glory be to her mother)

Job applicant #3
Me———– “In your 6 months as Service Receptionist at ___ Motors, what have you learned that you think would benefit us, if ever….
#3———– “Mam, ano, ay, ef ever, I am hardworking Mam. You learn fast.
(Me?)
#3———- “Sorry Mam, I’m nerves.
Me———- Okay, I will evaluate….. and expect a call from us next week.
(I gave her my name.)
#3———- “oh, oh, I know you, I know you. I google you”.

(Shall I hire her because she reads Oh my buhay? Not a good idea. It’s either her English would get better, or mine would get worst, ef ever).
