We joined this group tour because I wanted to watch the Passion Play held only every 10 years. The tickets were for the year 2020 but the pandemic struck and the world shut down.
The Passion Play was postponed, and two years later in 2022, it resumed.
The play we watched yesterday was the second to the last for this decade. There’ll be one more play this weekend and the next one would be in 2030. Yes, that’s right, eight solid years from now. There’ll be another one in 2034 in celebration of their 400th-year anniversary.
Today, we say farewell to Oberammergau. Our mission is done.
I would like to come back in 2030 if God permits. I’ll be too old by then. I hope even if my face would be looking like crepe paper, I would still be strong enough to travel for 36 long hours to reach this lovely place. Or maybe, I’ll just come back even if there’s no Passion Play. For what purpose? Wala, chill-chill labg, oatulog-tulog. Masarap ditong matulog, kahit walang aircon maginaw. Fresh air.
We had our farewell breakfast at Hotel Landhaus Feldmeier.
Before we checked out I paid €3 for one big bottle of still mineral water. Kasi nung isang-gabi, they distributed water but when we got to the room, Edmund opened the bottle, sparkling water pala. We were too tired to go down 3 flights of steps kaya natamad na kami to exchange them. Ininum na rin ni Edmund pero para daw syang umiinom ng Sprite sa madaling araw.
Konti na lang tao compared with yesterday. Siguro mga nag check out na rin tulad namin.
Our tour bus is big enough for 50 people but we’re only 12 plus the bus driver Iveta that’s why Edmund and I feel comfortable. We are able to maintain social distancing too.
Bye Oberammergau. We enjoyed our 2 nights stay. I wish we had an extra night. Bitin but nevertheless super thankful we had the opportunity to visit your blessed town and watch the Passion Play.
