Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes - Oh My Buhay

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

February 9, 2019, Saturday, Tagaytay

We were supposed to attend the 6 pm mass in Manila but when Waze said it would take us three (3) hours to reach Manila.  And most likely 4 hours.  Abah,  instead of getting stuck in the traffic for 4 hours we might as well have an early supper and go to a church in Tagaytay.

We had salad and pizza at 4 pm then proceeded to the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish located along Aguinaldo Highway near the Rotonda for the 5 pm anticipated mass.

Edmund had difficulty finding a parking slot because there were just too many cars.    We stood at the back all throughout the mass.  Kaya pala naman siksikan ang tao eh merong fiesta.  There’s a procession inside the church after the mass.  It’s part of the weeklong celebration in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes.

After the mass, I saw the lay ministers congregating outside. While I was taking pictures, one of the leaders suggested that I go inside the church because there would be a very nice celebration.

I tried getting in but the parishioners were standing like sardines. There was no more space for my body. I couldn’t squeeze in.

The farthest I could go was inches after I entered the church, right behind the door.

I was amazed at the amount of preparation that the volunteers did. All the works. It was like watching a coronation of a princess. The guy was correct in saying that it was better to take photos inside the church. Unfortunately I was at the back end and photos would have been fantastic if I were standing close to the altar or at least somewhere in the middle.

White curtains were drawn for a more dramatic entrance of the image of Our Lady of Lourdes. Aside from a big applause, I also heard and seen women sobbing and men in tears. It was a moving and touching moment. I had goosebumps.

The actual day of the feast was on February 11, 2019.
