Sulyap is the most appropriate name for this enclave. The minute we walked in, we were easily transported into the Spanish era .
This Spanish mansion was meticulously restored and converted into a bed and breakfast.
Sulyap sits on a 3 1/2 hectares compound of what used to be a school in the 1960s.
The owners are now living in the property which is becoming a travel back in time destination, with its old houses and museum.

The first house the owner rebuilt is where the restaurant is. This is the one he salvaged for 40,000 bucks and transformed it into a beautiful authentic masterpiece for an additional expenses amounting to P1,200,000.
Paintings were done by local artists. Some were collected from Roy’s travels abroad.
Even the music in the dining area is originally Filipino like Sitsiritsit alibangbang, salaginto, salagubang, ang babae…..
Tour-mate Borgie Mirasol
Shian, Almira Muhlach and actress Maricar de Mesa were at the other table.

I think our breakfast only cost P250 per person.
We were given menu choices a week in advance. I chose the Lucban langgnisa while Oyen had beef tapa.
Sulyap owner, Roy, passionate antique collector, a graduate of architecture from University of Santo Tomas (go uste!)
Each table was given two plates of daing na bangus with lots of fried garlic
Tableya chocolate, medyo sunog nag lasa. over boiled.
My eyes kept moving around while I was eating. I was in awe. You know how much I love antiques, old things.
Parang ang sarap matulog, the windows are wide open. Sarap nung araw. Ngayon, we have screens, grills, glass and heavy curtains.
We don’t see the outdoors(nature) anymore. How nice it is to wake up each morning with cold breeze and greens around you.
