I received a call from Sister Gloriosa or Gloria last Saturday afternoon at exactly 3:20 pm. She said the Missionaries of Charity identified me as the person who could be willing to help them come December. Sister Gloria said they have many projects next month and they need help. What sort of help? I almost dropped my phone when she asked that I provide food for 2,000 people. I will repeat, two thousand people.
Me——- Sister, for two hundred persons?
Sister Gloria—- No, two thousand.
Me————— Two thousand people?
Sister Gloria— You cannot give? So many people we feed.
Me————– Sister (inulit ko pa at baka nagka mali ako ng dinig), two hundred persons?
Sister Gloria— No, two thousand people. 300 on December 9, 500 on December 16, 500 on December…… We want you to come on December 16, they will make a program for you.
Me————— Sister, I am busy on that day, I cannot. But….
Sister Gloria— Annie, can you give? you give?
Parang bigla akong nabingi. Dyos ko, dalawang libong katao, ang dami, parang isang bayan na yan. These are the very poor people living in Tondo.

And how can I say no? There goes my November and December salary plus 13th month pay. Kaya kayo, wag na kayong maghintay ng regalo sa akin. Budget taken. Ako na lang regaluhan nyo, Your gift is good but I need cash. I don’t like fruitcake anyway, perahin nyo na lang. Pwede ba agahan nyo ang bigay, pwede November 30?

Ms. Annie ang dami naman… Sobra si sister maglambing, sapilitan. Baka nagbabasa ng ohmybuhay at nakitang may dalawang wristlet kayo, kaya 2k ang gustong hingin na food packs eh kung tag isang daan ang isa iyon eh di 200K na. bigyan mo na lang kaya ng isang braun buffel at cancel na ang fiesta. Don kaya sha manghingi sa simbahan or magbenta sila ng mga lupa, ang daming lupa ng mga orders ha, bukid bukid, at mga major stock holders pa iyang order nila ng major companies, at ang mga bank accounts nyan… eto nga sa subdivision namin iyong bahay eh pinagawa ng pari para sa kanyang girl (totoo ito). Baka akalain ni sister ikaw si Jesus na nag pakain ng dalawang libo with fish and some pieces of bread.
They do charity works out of others pocket. Oh my buhay!
I don’t agree with the way they solicit. Charity work should be done voluntarily. Why dump the burden on one person alone? Poor Annie.
