French Antique Market - Oh My Buhay

French Antique Market

USA, Sunday, October 12, 2014

My sister in law Dimple, Len and I, drove for almost an hour to San Rafael, Marin county to see their once a month French-themed antique flea market.

It was my first time to go to this place. We crossed another long bridge, $5 toll fee.

I could see the Golden Gate Bridge to the left.

We were there by 8:45 am and some vendors haven’t finished setting up.

Dimple was specifically looking for a blue ring.

Really old and kadirs-looking bottles. Some contain some dark liquid. Ano kaya iyon?

I saw some charming home decor pieces but would be too hassle to bring home.

Collecting antique dolls is a big thing here in America. In any flea market, a good percentage of merchandise are collectible dolls.

Cute or creepy?

I bought a set of cocktail napkins with French embroidery for $20. They gave discounts din.

I wasn’t sure if the terracotta jars are made in France too.

I liked some of their glass frames pero sigurado mababasag lang yan sa shipment.

French Chinois China. When you see the word china at the back of a plate, two things, it’s either made in China or the word china is used as a description of the material used in the plate, meaning it’s fine porcelain. In this case, it must have the logo of the maker, and the place where made, for example: Bavaria, Germany.

I’ve seen about a dozen different kinds of dog. There’s a pet show/ market on going on the other side of the parking area.

I met Christina, she and her pretty mom sell nice stuff some of which were wedding gifts and items Christina bought while honeymooning in Paris. They’re actually selling their own personal items because they moved to a smaller house in Walnut Creek. I bought a set of china from her made in Japan. She said she bought it a two years ago for $250 who bought it originally for $450.00. She asked for $85 for the whole set but she forgot to bring the dinner plates. since I would have to come to her house to pick up the plates, she gave me a $15 discount. I paid her $7o for the whole set. Th pieces were very new. She only used some of them for her baby shower.
She told me they’re service for eight but the cups were 16 pieces.

The heat was on by 10:15 am. We couldn’t stand being under the sun. Hat and sunglasses were very helpful.
Once under the shade, the temperature became several degrees cooler.

OMB @ French Market, it's hot.

Time to go, it’s so hot. Dimple was able to buy a nice blue sapphire ring to match a dress.

Len and Dimple had the healthier choice of buckwheat French crepe with chicken, mushroom, onions, and sour cream ($10.50)

I had the regular pancake-style flour crepe with mushroom and cheese ($9.50)

Instead of drinking water, I bought a small glass of fresh and pure pineapple and apple juice combo, from a young American family. The barker was their 7 year old boy who’s so cute. I actually bought because of him.

This is such a beautiful place, with hills and lakes. I’d like to live in a place like this. It’s not so crowded and I noticed that this is a 99% white county.

Dimple wanted to go to Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, that’s in the opposite direction. I fell asleep for at least half hour and when I opened my eyes, we were still on the road.
