Golf extends a person’s life span

I think playing golf on a regular basis and enjoying clean good fun with his golf friends will extend years to Edmund’s life span. Seeing how happy the guys are when they are together playing golf makes me glad that we came here. This trip will add maybe a few months to their life span, so sulit na rin ang layo ng byahe namin.

You don’t have to be a fantastic golfer to enjoy the game. This sport is a great equalizer. Unlike basketball when you need to tower over your opponents and be young and fit, golf can still be enjoyed by active 70s, 80s, even 90s. You can play even with Rory Mcilroy and still win depending on how generous he is with the plus. If your handicap is 10 and his is zero, and he gives you a plus 10, that means his skill advantage is removed. You now can play with him and still beat him. You also do not need to belong to a team just like in basketball or volleyball. You can play by yourself anytime. Just join strangers in the flight. Or if you are shy, play alone but it’s not going to be as much fun as when you are playing with your friends. The friendly banter and kantyawan makes it more enjoyable. Pero meron ring nagkakapikunan, nag-aaway rin.

1. Elmer de Leon — his wife Det was supposed to join too as non-golfer but she backed out thinking that she didn’t know anyone in the group. She didn’t see our name on the list. As a result, her reservation fee was forfeited by Golf Links. It was too late when she found out that my daughter and I were joining. Sayang, she would have enjoyed this quaint town.

3. Mark Rigg
4. Roger
5. Larry– wow pang Mt. Everest talaga.
6. Ariel Rivera — the Montalla girls are always prodding him to sing. They are looking for a karaoke. It’s my first time to meet Ariel and am surprised that he’s such a nice fellow, walang arte kahit artista sya. Magkasundo sila ni Edmund. I think everybody likes him. Mga fans siguro.
7. Bobby
8. Orven, the younger brother of Ariel. Orven grew up in Toronto but he speaks Tagalog. Yan ang gusto ko. Among all of us his accent has the most potential for easy conversion into a British accent. Hindi sila magkahawig ni Ariel. Malayo pati height.

1. Celso Montalla – he is traveling with his wife Rose, and two daughters Celine and Christine with her husband RJ.
2. Arch. Larry Patnongon – is traveling with his wife Mariz. They celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in Edinburgh. He gave Mariz a bunch of tulip flowers which Elmer said ay libre lang yun kasi pinitas lang daw ni Larry sa tabi-tabi. Larry doesn’t look like he’s going to play golf with his get-up here. Mukhang aakyatin nya Mt. Everest. He looks like mountaineer Tenzing Norgay.
3. Roger aka Palos, always smiling and lagi kaming nagha-high five. Bakit ba high five, bakit hindi eight. Just asking.
4. Rolly is baby faced. Mukha syang baby. When we were in Edinburgh, he got a separate hotel room because his original room mate Roger could not sleep from his loud snores. Rolly has a good sense of humor.
5. Mark Rigg – He and Edmund first met in 2013. He is thankful to Edmund for bringing along his golf buddies. There are also participants from China, Singapore, Malaysia, US, Ireland, etc. but Edmund and Party is the biggest delegation. Isang barangay sila. Solid. You have to be decisive. Basta go! Go go go while you are still strong enough to make this super long haul trip.
6. Bobby Leung has always been boyish-looking. Except for his new bigote fashion, he still pretty much looks the same as when Edmund first introduced him to me some 15 years ago.
7. Last on the photo but certainly not the least, that’s my husband. Ang pasimuno nitong golf trip na ito. The tour planner, hotel reservations officer, transportation officer, with the assistance of my daughter. What else can I say about him?
