Although we’ve been to The Strip a few times in the past both for business and for pleasure, it was only in October 2016 that I discovered that there’s life outside of the klieg lights and slot machines at The Strip. Vegas is home to 300,000+ people that don’t gamble. They work, live, raise their family, and thrive here.
My husband discovered that he could spend more time here than in any other city in the United States because the most beautiful and immaculately landscaped top-notch golf courses are within 15-20 minutes of each other. That’s the kicker. That’s the reason why we’ve spent three New Year’s here. Vegas spells golf.
It’s not unusual reading Holywood celebrities getting quickie wedding here in Vegas. They get drunk in some fancy nightclubs, get married then get divorced the minute they woke-up.
We chose to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas to add some element of fun. Vegas has glitz, glamour, and sexiness.
I spent about a week searching online for a restaurant to dine at after our wedding. I wanted a private room in a fine dining restaurant but the private rooms have minimum consumable and usually good for 20-40 people. We’re only 8 px and to pay $500 per person to meet the minimum required charge would be too much. We’re not drinkers so we could not even consume the most expensive wine.
I trimmed down my choices between Guy Savoy located in Augustus Tower of the Caesar’s Palace and Eiffel Tower Restaurant on the 8th floor of Paris Casino and Hotel. I liked Restaurant Guy Savoy because it has a semi-private room that can accommodate 8 people. It has a view of the Eiffel Tower and the Bellagio Fountains. Guy Savoy has 3 Michelin Stars in Paris and 2 Michelin Stars in Las Vegas. Their resident chef was accommodating, he came up with a menu especially for me.
Eiffel Tower Restaurant has no semi-private room. The private room accommodates 30 people and that would be too big. The only bigger table they have is in the main dining room so my worry was it could be too noisy and too public. I would be wearing a gown and my son and Edmund would be in tux. I can’t imagine if we will be comfortable. I was told that Eiffel has AAA diamond awards so the food and service must be great too.
I was leaning towards Restaurant Guy Savoy. Their accolades were impressive.

With a heavy heart, I dropped Guy Savoy when they informed me we can’t have a photographer because we might disturb the other diners. We are celebrating a special occasion so it can’t be helped that we would be laughing, giggling, taking selfies, and standing up to take group photos. Maybe we’ll just dine in Guy Savoy some other time when we are celebrating a no-occasion day.
So there you go, I picked the Eiffel Tower Restaurant for our mini-wedding reception. Fine dining for 8 persons.
