We went to Eastridge Golf & Country Club in Binangonan, Rizal for two Sundays in a row. The first was to join some long-time friends for lunch. And this time, Edmund joined them for a round of golf and to show Oyen and Derrick the place.
Cruising along the floodway and some narrow streets were like a field trip for Oyen and Derrick, but more for Derrick.
One of the reasons why my two children are not suplado and suplada is because I exposed them to an environment where being ma-arte is not an option. I brought them to the palengke, barbero, and plaza, and fed them sorbetes, puto bungbong, puto, kutsinta, inihaw na pusit, and fried itik. Being exposed to different walks of life make a person more dynamic, more flexible, more broadminded. My children’s compassion and empathy were ingrained in their nature since they were little.
Edmund went ahead to Eastridge earlier because their tea time was at 9:30 am. Oyen, Derrick, and I followed at 1 pm.
Men don’t mind burning their skin under the sun for hours to play this addictive sport of golf. Some men get intimidated by Edmund’s Godiva color because they think the darker the skin is, the better he is in golf.
The better you become, the more enjoyable golf becomes. Many quit because according to them golf gave up on them. I think golf is a game of patience. Imagine how many times you have to hit the ball to finish 18 holes and how many steps do you need to take to walk 7 kilometers? My husband is all for that that’s why golf has been very friendly to him. He will continue playing as long as he can. I hope he lives long enough to be the oldest golf champion player in the Philippines.
He bumped into his friend Teody Pascual, another very good golfer.
After having lunch and kwentuhan with Serge Ortiz-Luis, Alex Asuncion, and several other acquaintances, we brought Oyen and Derrick to see the view.
This was Oyen’s first time here.

Many people come up here for the sunset. On a clear day, one can see the view of skyscrapers in Makati and Pasig, Laguna Lake.
Once in a while we feel trapped in the circumference of life and it helps to climb a mountain to see the world from a different perspective.
