I went to Home Depot and SM Megamall (Fashion Mall) after office to look at the home furnishings stores for homestyle design inspiration, for my 50 square meter kubo or cottage house plus 20 square meter patio.
I bought a pair of wall lamps. I chose the white ones with scrolls for the interior. This is more modern. I will just try to blend it with the overall design look. Bahala na kahit chopsuey.
If this were P5,000 I would have bought this right away. But the price was P15,000 +. It’s only for my kubo so I found P15,000 for a small center table too expensive for my purpose. Cute sana sya.
Omb———“Made saan?”
Sales staff–“Malaysia mam”.
Omb———“That’s good, hindi ako bumibili ng made in China (sinasakop na tayo)”,
Omb———“Ang ganda, I really like it, bakit ang mahal naman”.
Sales staff–“Mam kasi ang designer nya sikat. Yun ang nagpamahal, kilala ang designer”.
Omb——— “Sino? so ang binabayaran yung brand, parang Hermes?”
Sales lady–“Per piece yan mam”.
Omb———“So magkano?”
Sales lady—“_____ per square meter”.
Omb———“Kala ko per piece”.
Sales lady—“Pwede rin per piece”.
There’s a small furniture and decor store in SM Fashion mall called Veranda, in front of Crate and Barrel, they sell nice rattan furniture. This one is very comfortable. The price P28,000 yata does not include the foot stool. Nung araw bagong kasal kami ni Edmund yung dining set namin ang laki-laki with 6 chairs tila P3,000 pesos whole set. Pinag-ipunan pa namin yun.
I saw a long wooden table that looked laminated in another store.
Omb———“Miss, laminated wood ba ito?”
Lady Sales Manager— “Hindi, handmade yan”.
Omb———“Yung materials, laminated, etong top?”
Sales Manager——“Hindi, handmade lahat yan”.
This is the size I am looking for, it can be a sofa bed. Bagay ito sa kubo ko. Price tag P178,000+. Hmm, tila ka presyo nya ang buong kubo ko.
I saw an American lady training the Crate & Barrel Filipino employees how to do the bed linens.

Omb———-“Miss, this is so pretty, ang ganda”.
Sales ladies-“Mam, rock crystal yan”.
Omb———-“Ang ganda, I’ve never seen anything like this… basag look”.
I couldn’t get my eyes off it. That morning, For some reason, bigla akong natingala at nakita ko yung chandelier ko sa bathroom ko, napangitan ako bigla and naisip, palitan ko na nga ito. Lagi kasing pundi, naka tagilid pa. Ayaw ko ngang gagamitin.
Aha, this could be the sign. I am in love with this chandelier, I will buy this to replace my bathroom lights. Yey!
Omb——–“Miss, how much is this?”
Sales lady–“One million one hundred thousand”.
Omb———“One million one hundred…?”
Sales lady–“One million one hundred….thousand”.
Omb———“Oo nga, wow”.
My bathroom chandelier is only 9 years old and pundi lang ang ilaw nun, easy to replace with LED lights. Tagilid? Naku maluwag lang ang turnilyo nun, madali yung remedyuhan.
One Million one hundred thousand?’
E———“Tart, where is our car?”
A———“I sold it. I replaced it with a new one. It’s very nice, it’s hanging on my bathroom ceiling”.
Bugbog ang aabutin ko kay mister.
The entrance/exit of SM Fashion Mall is at EDSA. I inhaled all the pollution.
I still have a vague idea on how I would execute it but clear on my mind is I want to incorporate re-purposed materials with clean lines whatever that means. I want it simple, airy, with lots of natural lights. No curtains, no roman shades.
I will have one small dining table with 4 chairs plus two extra chairs for guests, one sofa that could serve as a twin bed, a small coffee table, a desk, two queen beds, one cabinet, a small ref, tv, and a small toilet and bath.
My toilet will be small, maybe 8 sqm and I want it to look open and organic. I want to feel like I am showering outdoors but not in a jungle.
I’ve inquired about a full solar power system. From P65,000 I can have 100 watts lights, one tv, one laptop computer running for four hours. For P85,000 it doubles the capacity. The price goes up depending on the power supply and requirements. You can have a whole building and hacienda lighted up.
For around P20,000 I can have a water heater for one bathroom for 2 – 3 persons. I don’t like to use the ones that we see in the mall, hanging by the shower head. Those are a lot more affordable but takot ako, maraming nakukuryente lalo kung luma na. I don’t want to take the risk.
