A hot afternoon in Manila Bay

I was actually feeling nauseated even before I left our house to join Maymay’s extended birthday celebration on a cruise in Manila Bay. I tried to take a nap at 2 pm but my mind was very active. I was worried about the possible heavy traffic in EDSA and Roxas Blvd. Maymay said the meeting time was 5 pm. It was a Friday, pay day, rush hour, and there would be fireworks display competition so I expected horrendous traffic.

I was already near Guadalupe when my husband called. He said “Tart asan ka na? Walang traffic, ang aga mo” He said he was already home from golf “nagmamadali ako para abutan ka”. Hmmm, miss nya ‘ko.

My co-cruisers, if there’s such a term, were not yet here. I knew it, people would come late.

I arrived before 5 pm and Maymay and guests were not yet at the yacht club.
It was a hot afternoon. The 65 ft. Henryana yacht was ready but I didn’t want to stay there although there’s aircon because the boat was swaying. Hindi pa nagsisimula party ni Maymay, baka masuka na ako sa hilo. It was so hot naman to sit in the club’s veranda, super init and ang bantot nga.

The birthday girl arrived around 5:30 pm in a flowing cotton dress. I asked her how many guests were coming. She said we would be 18 altogether.

Butch my neighbor (5 blocks away) came in a fabulous outfit. I’ve known Butch for many years and during events and meetings she was always well dressed but so far this was my favorite.

May and guests sat down at the veranda while waiting for the other guests. I took advantage of that down time to hie off to the women’s bathroom.
It was cold inside with the blasting air condition. I sat on the long bench and I felt so comfortable and presko.

There were two guests that were left behind, Margie Moran and another guy. Margie messaged Maymay that she was still at the Cultural Center of the Philippines while the other guy was still somewhere in Makati.

When it was almost 6 pm, Maymay decided it was time to get the party going.

The yacht is owned by Henry and Gaina that’s why it’s named Henryana. So sweet. I am going to buy a banca and name it Monna. Mon for Edmund and my nickname spelled backwards An. Maybe I’ll add the letter Y for Yee, it becomes Monnay. #bancanimonnay

I was scared to walk on the narrow corridor or side of the boat. I found the railings too low I could fall over. I must have looked ridiculous while walking with bent knees so I could be closer to the floor. I am one clumsy dude so there’s a big chance I could just fall over for no apparent reason.
