I bought several books last January from the one and only remaining bookstore in town to help them survive. The books included The Constitution of the United States of America ratified during the time of George Washington, President, and deputy from Virginia.
This is their Preamble:
We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The Bill of Rights includes the most controversial Second Amendment which reads:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The above has been the focus of many debates and lobbying for and against the right of Americans to own firearms which has been blamed for gun violence. There are at least 36,000 deaths and thousands in injuries in the US annually related to gun violence.
