For the past few weeks our maids were always fighting. I couldn’t tell anymore who’s lying.
I had some strange feelings about Cherry but never dwelled on them and since we’re busy, I never got to focus on those things.
One is the fast disappearance of our vitamins. We keep our vitamins and medicines in one portion of our kitchen cabinet. Ang bilis maubos ng vitamins namin. Two weeks ago, I opened a big bottle of Calcium and in just two weeks, there were only few capsules left. I bought a hundred tablets of paracetamol and they all disappeared, even the multivitamins and the vitamin E. One of the maids told me she saw Cherry getting our vitamins. She also claimed that she saw a big bottle in Cherry‘s drawer.

There were a couple of times I wondered why I had no more cash when I thought I still had a few thousand in my bag. Kasi when I am ready na in the morning, I placed my bag on the kitchen counter, minsan I would go up again to the bedroom or to the bathroom, and would leave my bag in the kitchen.
When I arrived from the US in mid-July, I still had some dollars in my wallet. I counted it many times and $600 was missing. I also lost my Samsung celphone I left beside my bed before I went to Taipei last month. I also couldn’t find my diamond pendant and gold necklace that I bought in San Francisco about 15 years ago. I do not want to think too much of this necklace otherwise baka mahimatay ako sa sama ng loob. I am just hoping that I misplaced it and one day it would just show up.
At mahirap magbintang, di ba when we are looking for something, we always think, baka nawala natin or kung pera, baka nagastos na natin.

Napansin ko rin nauubos yung mga kubyertos namin. I bought a set of Oneida for 24 people para kako pag merong bisita, The last time I checked, only half were left. When I asked Cherry about it, she claimed napansin nga daw nya na nagkulang, etc. I wanted to install locks but how, sa dami ng drawers alangan naman lahat lagyan ko ng susi. P10,000 worth of cheap spoon and fork good for 100 persons is totally gone.

There was also a report that one of our drivers knocked once on the wooden wall at past midnight, then Cherry went out of the maid’s room wearing a nightie, she came back after 20 minutes. I asked the other maids if they heard a sound while Cherry was out, wala naman daw. Ano yun silent movie?

I am the only one here that is fond of grapes. Napansin ko lagi, dumadami ang tangkay, nauubos yung bunga. I suspected that she was eating my grapes pero since I was busy, nalilimutan ko na agad siyang tanungin.

She lent the driver P50,900 in cash. And where did she get that much money? The neighbors also owe her money. She told me she has about P200,000 in pautang. I am sure there are many more things around our house that are missing.

The labandera claimed she saw Cherry spit in Jazzy’s food. Kasi daw para maamo sa kanya yung aso.
Then she was seen spitting in our food once para daw pampaamo. Now I know why I get so fat.

She did not want to leave, syempre sa sarap ng buhay nya dito at ang dami pala nyang dilihensya sa amin.
She was even arguing with me, bakit siya ang paaalisin ko. Naniniwala daw ako sa kasinungalingan nung iba.
Me—– Cherry, pinipilit kong huwag magalit sayo, pero konti na lang at kukulo na ang dugo ko, wag mong intayin na kaladkarin kita palabas!

I checked her belongings and found a folded check in her wallet. It was Edmund’s BPI check, with Cherry’s handwriting. She wrote a check for P30,000 payable to herself.
Me—— Ano ito? Saan mo ito kinuha?
Cherry– Ibinigay lang nila sa akin, laro-laro
Me—– sinong nila? Anong laro-laro
Cherry– Nakita ko lang doon, binigay nila, eh laro-laro lang naman.

She stole it from Edmund’s wallet. Edmund always carried one blank check in his wallet. He obviously did not know that he lost a check.
Edmund was shocked when he found out about the BPI check. He looked at his check book and he’s missing 3 pieces which were torn off from the back portion of the check book. He could only find out if Cherry was able to fake his signature and encashed some checks without his knowledge tomorrow, monday. I hope Edmund did not lose any money.
There is one bank that is true to its name, Security Bank. They text or call to verify if you issued checks even for P3,000. Even for payment of utilities like Meralco, Globe, they still call to double check. This practice ensures that even if someone steals your check book, they cannot steal your money.
No amount is too small for Security Bank. Ang pera ko dun lagi na lang minimum balance but they still give me very good service.

  1. “When trust is broken even repaired it will never be the same”! For people like Cherry that took advanrage of you and your family for long time she deserved more than a slap on the face-jail! I am a very generous person too like you Annie but maybe we handle things differently, I can give thousands freely as long as I know it but once I learned somebody “kupit” kahit singko I will never trust and give that person anymore!

  2. Hi Annie, I have just started reading your blog a few months ago and I think I have read all your posts. 😉

Wow! grabe si Cherry! All those “lies + stealing”, she absolutely abused you and your family.

We have a long time female kasambahay sa Phil. ( I live in CA.) she’s been with us for 31 yrs. We are so blessed to have her. I take care of her health insurance ( check-up, vitamins etc) and my sister’s paying for her salary + SSS.

I know we can’t repay her back for her loyalty, hardwork and dedication. I always tell her to slow down and enjoy life na lang. She’s 60 yrs. old now and single. She’s been a part of our family. Thank God for having her in my life!

I truly understand your frustration and anger. Sobrang bad person ni Cherry!! Nakakainis!

Annie, I know you have a beautiful family. Take care.

    1. Thank you Besy. You are very lucky to have that person.

Ako I have tried all sorts of things, extremely nice, very nice, nice lang, indifferent, strict, very strict. I have resigned to the fact that our maids come and go. 90% of the time nag-aaway-away sila. Even the employment agencies tell me that the maids now are really like that. They just come to Manila not really for work, but just to have a free place, free meal and to be in Manila. They don’t really take their jobs seriously.

      I am just plain exhausted.

  3. Oh my. At least you discovered soon enough Mrs Yee. I already found her behavior creepy when you posted the “sumbong ni cherry” entry. Plus the fact na medyo adelantado and in my opinion kulang sa galang–riding in the car ahead of you; refusing some duties you ordered kase mainit, etc.
