I rearranged our home furniture

I rearranged our Home Furniture

I rearranged our home furniture last week. The formal dining table which was never used is now in the informal sala or den.

After removing the dining table and chairs, the shih tzu pee stains on the area rug unfolded before my eyes. That cabinet is older than my son. It originally had a crackled white finish, the trend 20 years ago. I had it stripped of the paint and finished it with an antique look. I put some gold paint accents.

The floor underneath the tv cabinet was so dirty. It didn’t look dirty but when I wiped it with a damp cloth, the rag turned into black. I asked the maid to wipe it several times to remove the layers of dust that hardened.
Maid———–“Malinis na po”.
OMB————“Tingnan ko yung basahan?”
She showed me a clean rug. Oo nga wala ng dumi.
As a last minute quality check, I borrowed the clean rag from her and wiped the floor myself.

These boxes came from the buffet cabinet or credencia. The Tiffany boxes were gifts from Edmund’s friends he met while playing golf in Bangkok.
The other supot contains souvenir items from Turkey, etc.
The black attache case contains a set of plated cutlery sold to us by a relative.
We’ve never used it even once. It’s not actually our style. I wouldn’t be surprised if it disappears one day, baka nakawin ng mga maids, akala pera ang laman.

OMB———–“Tila baligtad”.
Maid———-“Ganyan talaga yan mam”.

table runner, baligtad

OMB———-“Ganito sya oh”.
This table runner is generally old. I bought this at the Frankfurt International Furniture and Accessories Fair in Germany, some 20 years ago. For a long time, it was left in a crumpled supot, totally forgotten. It was only after we moved in to this house that I discovered I have several of these table runners and doilies. Nung araw maganda yan, mukhang elegant, and original.

For almost a week, the tv cabinet, dvd, cds, stereo component, speakers were scattered at the foyer. I didn’t know where to dump them. Our house is masikip na.

This blue porcelain old fashioned style telephone from Italy is one big impulse buy and a true waste of money. I bought this 9 years ago.

Not content in one, I bought a white porcelain telephone. It’s a gorgeous piece of decor but it’s not practical. Although it could be used as a real telephone, it’s not functional.

Huwag hawakan itong angel

Maid——“Anghel ba ito? Anghel pala ito. Kala ko kuba”.

The large upholstered sofa is now in the great room while the blue loveseat with 4 arm chairs now occupy the formal sala.
And the formal living room set is now where the formal dining set used to be. Ang gulo.

I don’t know if this arrangement is better or worst. The house still looks the same, the only big downside is the television. I moved the TV in another area where there’s no cable connection. The place is not conducive to watching television. I have no more space to transfer the tv so in the meantime, I’ll leave it there till I find a better alternative.

The old fashioned bulky stereo component was given to us by my Kuya Lito. He bought it from the duty free shop in Pasay, approximately 18-20 years ago. If I remember it right, the price was more than a thousand dollars. We rarely use it lalo na ngayon, children don’t even know what a stereo component is.

Bedrooms are slowly being converted into storage aka garbage room.
This is the guest room on the second floor, it doesn’t look like a bedroom anymore. It’s a kalat room.

Guest room is now a storage room

Tambakan rin ng paintings.

  1. Sad to hear how your maids might steal your nice things. But it reminded me of news about a new storage place in Taguig. It’s climate controlled, kind of like self-storage places in the US. Maybe it could be an option for the things that you want to hand down to your children

    1. HI Tracey,

I think I have several flyers of storage companies. Thank you for your suggestion. Regards.
