My daughter called. When I said hello, instead of a hello, I heard her crying. She is terribly heartbroken. Her former dean and professor at Fordham University texted Oyen that her former boss and mentor, Juelly Lichtmann, had died. No details were given because they also didn’t know yet. It was probably biglaan because Juelly reported for work today.
I didn’t know what to say to make my daughter feel a little bit better. Iyak sya ng iyak. She has just lost a great friend. Juelly truly cared for my daughter. She was my daughter’s “family” in New York.
It’s 3 am in New York now and as soon as the sun rises later, I am going to contact their office to get details of her sudden death.
I’ve been meaning pa naman to buy her a nice bag for this Christmas. While we were having lunch in April at Rosa Mexicano, I was actually looking at her bag trying to see what the brand was. Right after, I already thought of giving her a nice gift. She’s been really really nice to my daughter and to us. Such a great loss. Sad. Very very sad.
