Kentucky, De Lima, Security Guard

1. I haven’t been watching local news lately. No teleserye either. I watch
CNN but I usually stay on the HGTV cable channel. I saw a feature about a young couple looking to buy a farm. The agent showed them a sprawling 6 acre land with a cute cottage house in Kentucky for $61,500. It was over their budget of $60,000 and there were a couple of things they still have to fix because the house has seen better days. Where can you find six acres of vast land or roughly 2.4 hectares with a cute house for P 2,787,000 mas mura pa sa tindang condominium dito sa Maynila. Parang I want to live in that kind of serene surroundings, in peace and harmony with the horses, grass and trees. Parang napaka peaceful. Simple farm living too. We can even go watch the Kentucky Derby. I asked Edmund if he wants to retire in Kentucky. Dun na lang kami tatanda but we cannot ride the horses, too risky for our brittle bones.

2. OMB reader Joey is so funny. He said right now he feels lucky he’s not De Lima. Me too. I walked into our room and saw husband watching the local news. I caught the last few sentences of President Duterte’s bombastic speech calling her an immoral woman. I was shocked not from the nature of allegations but because the President said those in a public venue and televised at that.

I wouldn’t want to be in Senator Lilia De Lima’s shoes. It’s not my business to comment on her personal life and to judge her. I have my own buhay to meddle with.

3. The current news reminded me of a story that happened 25 years ago. I couldn’t help but think of my ad client before. He picked me up from my office in Strata 200 to show me their handicraft factory. Kala ko malapit lang, yun pala sa San Pedro, Laguna.
He introduced me to his daughter and to some of his key officers. Over lunch at his office, he told me about his wife who eloped with their factory security guard. What a topic over lunch. Muntik na akong mabulunan. And mind you, I was still very young then. Wala pa akong wisdom teeth. He told me his wife made the security guard her driver and they always went ballroom dancing together. She gave this guy a lot of money she withdrew from their joint savings account. She also bought the guy a place and a car.

Edmund was the one who hired our security guard on duty here at our residence. Sya pumili nito. Kaya pala mukhang bampira. Bungal, dalawa lang ang ipin sa magkabila.

  1. Hahaha Miss Annie bungal ang pinili ni Sir Edmund para “eyesore” at di eye candy. Naalala ko tuloy yung tita ko, she had a good life, mayaman yung husband nya and they have a nice house sa White Plains that time.

Na-inlove sya sa driver nya and then she got pregnant (her 3rd kid). Di sya makalusot kasi yung hubby nya had a vasectomy after they had 2 kids. Pinalayas sya ng husband nya and she even had to sleep sa Luneta for a week after she ran out of cash kasi lahat ng credit cards nya cancelled na ng husband nya and her own relatives eh di sya tinulungan kasi ikinakahiya sya.
