Many restaurants closed in 2016 - Oh My Buhay

Many restaurants closed in 2016

The Korean restaurant three miles away from the bed and breakfast we stayed at closed for a little over a month because the old Korean male owner / cook accidentally broke his arm.

Some of the loyal customers who walked in while we were having dinner heaved a sigh of relief. I heard them saying how sad they were when the restaurant closed. I found that sweet.

There are at least a hundred restaurants in the USA that closed for good in 2016 because of high rental costs and customers’ ever changing tastes.
Cadence, Oro and Bon Marche Brasserie in the Bay Area closed within a year of operation. Old favorites Bourbon Steak and Ame also bowed out of business. New York’s Spice Market, Lowlife, Pickle Shack, Peanut Butter & Co. were not spared. At least 20 restaurants in Chicago bowed out of business. After 34 years, Chicago’s beloved Itto Sushi restaurant retired. Border Grill, Maison Giraud, Corazon y Miel in Santa Monica, Skooby’s Hot Dogs in Hollywood, and many others.
