My daughter suggested that we eat pancit molo or La Paz batchoy at Nelly’s Garden inside the Lopez Mansion. The tall gate was closed when we passed by the area and we didn’t have prior reservations. My husband was not cool about calling to reserve, stressful daw and abala. Maybe next time we come back to Iloilo we’ll explore this grounds.
We drove by the original market place because my husband wanted me to see how it was like in the city when he was still living here.
The elongated or extended-bodied jeepney could carry more passengers but I was concerned if it was tested for road worthiness.
We were tired of driving around so we just looked for a restaurant to eat merienda near the hotel. We wanted La Paz Natchoy and the only choice at Atria was Netong’s. My husband was a little annoyed because he knew I didn’t want to eat here. Kasi my impression was hindi naman masarap. I’ve been passing by this place few times a day in the past two days and I observed the service, the plastic bowls, how the batchoy looked like and from the looks of it, there was nothing there that made me feel “ay kain tayo dito kasi mukhang masarap”. Feeling ko talaga there’s nothing special about their batchoy. It’s no different from the pansit mami in ordinary eateries.
In my opinion this version of La Paz Batchoy is not special at all. It tasted like ordinary pansit mami. But maybe this is really the taste of batchoy and nothing more. Maybe my expectations were too high.
They served this lukewarm. I prefer my soup to be hot.
We went to the nearby Panaderia de Molo.
We ate again, this time dinuguan with puto. The dinuguan was 50 per bowl plus 5 pesos for one puto.
Would you believe my tooth was aching again? That was the same tooth that ruined my Scandinavian vacation. My husband was so mad at me “Sinabi na kasing ipabunot mo na yan! Kung kailan ka nasa byahe at saka sasakit”.
I bought a dental analgesic from Mercury Drug but this didn’t help at all. The pain persisted. Sumakit siguro kasi kain ako ng kain.
