My son treated me to an hour of foot massage at Nuat Thai, near the Home Depot complex in Julia Vargas, Pasig City. He paid P250 for each of us plus tips.

My first time to try this chain of spa / massage place.

What are the necessary paper products that I could throw into their bowl?

They brought me to a feet washing area. The bench’s height is for long legged creatures, not for short humans like me.

They put me in the tiniest room I’ve ever seen. It fits the reclining chair but with a few inches space left for the therapist to sit. There’s no space for her to move to the sides. The stool where my feet were resting reached her prekprek and she had to spread both her legs on each side of the stool to fit, while her back was against the wall. It must be 90 cm x 1.5 meters.

One of their MALE therapists opened the curtain while I was having a massage. He used his celphone as flashlight. The curtain opened right in front of my thighs. My dress was up so the therapist could also massage my thighs.
I was so pissed. When that &%$#@ guy saw my legs, he said “ay sorry”. I was fuming mad. Nakita naman na nakasara yung kurtina di dapat alam na nya na merong customer. Sana bago nya binuksan eh tanungin muna kung may tao.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I came here to relax with my son. Nainis pa ako. Parang gusto kong sigawan yung napaka engot na yun.

The receptionist said there are eleven of them and they are all from Cebu.
The owner of this branch in Home Depot is from Manila but all the staff were recruited and trained by Nuat Thai franchisor who’s based in Cebu.
All of them stay in an apartment provided for by the franchisee. They get 25% of the sales proceeds, 75% goes to the owner who comes to collect the cash every week. They are given free rice and they get to keep the tips.

Nuat Thai was founded in Cebu and all the 400 plus scattered nationwide are franchisees paying a million fee plus the cost of beds, equipments and supplies.

The family who founded Nuat Thai daw started poor, ngayon super rich na.
Nuat means hand in Thai.

Anak thank you.
