Occupation Vegetable

There were several job applications on my desk when I reported for work on Wednesday. I’ve been away for a month and I have totally forgotten if there were pending interviews. I went over the resumes and sent emails to all of them. Five, that their education and work experience don’t match the vacant positions. Two were a little bit okay. I emailed some preliminary questions.

One of the things that job applicants must change is their email addresses. It’s cute to have cuteskie, honey yuks, Iambeautiful, gorgeous yolly, tabamo, as your pet’s name but not your email address most especially if you are putting this in your resume as your contact addresses.

Pls give only one email address and one cell phone number. Make sure that these are the numbers that you answer, and the email address that you open and read everyday. Not the one that you don’t care to open once in 6 months. Not the cellphone that you don’t even bring.

Most of the covering letters are surely copied from somewhere. Be sure that what you copy is devoid of any typo and grammatical errors. I would understand any mistake if it was obvious that it was self-composed. Pero kung kinopya at mali pa?

  1. Hi Annie,
Just dropping a line to let you know that I really enjoyed reading this entry of yours about job applications. It ‘s amusing but on a serious note, it is very informative to people who are looking for jobs. It is great to know what employers think of the job applications they receive. How can employers identify inconsistencies on applicants’ claims? What to avoid in writing job applications?
Oh yes, this brought me back to memory lane as many years ago, you interviewed me for a position at Teledyne and you were the one who provided me the opportunity. Thanks for that and I hope you will always find time to blog and share your valuable experience in those powerful roles you do. Really insightful- keep on posting!
    Fondly, Rissa
