Our New Year's Eve

We have some rituals at home that we followed every year to welcome the new year.

Our family scattered coins around the house most especially along doorways and windows to attract money.

Good luck- oh my buhay

I also placed some coins in the altar and in the front patio.

I hang good luck charms on our front door. This one’s from Mongkok in Hongkong.

Last Saturday, we lighted lots and lots of sawa (about 40,000 rounds) at the front and back of our house to drive away negativities.

We had aerial fireworks display to welcome the positives and attract happiness into our home.

We enjoyed lighting and watching fireworks so much that we didn’t notice we were still in the street at almost 1 am. We also made sure that the area in front of our house was cleaned and cleared of the sawa debris and we swept the sidewalks and road of any kalat from the firecrackers. Ang bait namin.

After the paputok, our family (the 4 of us only) gathered at the dinner table. First was the official New Year family photo. Edmund follows the history of his baldness while I follow the invasion of my wrinkles thru these photos.
