Edmund told me the night before that he didn’t mind just staying home for dinner on his birthday because for him birthdays are not important, it’s just another day. Sometimes I also feel that way, on my birthday, lalo na when I am physically tired, parang nakakatamad kumain sa labas. However, when we have a family who looks forward to commemorating what they believe is an important day in your life, then there shouldn’t be any hesitation in going out to party.
A party of four.
We all went to work first. I attended a luncheon meeting, then rushed to get dear husband a gift I hoped he would like and use.
No neckties, no wallets, no shoes, no polo shirts, or else I would just see all of them in the “for donation” boxes after a year or two.
I went to the Apple store on the third floor of Glorietta in Makati.
I’ve been here before. I have bought one Iphone and 3 Ipads here last year. Puro pangregalo.
Nahinayang ako, pag cash I could get 5% discount, sayang. I only had P250 in my wallet. I paid with my card, no discount. Malaki rin yung P1,849.50.
Takbo sa bahay to wrap the gift.
Ready for the party. Our reservation was at 7:30 pm but at 7:40 we were still in the hotel lobby taking pictures.
We have a big box of moon cake in our ref. Nyke and his friend Michael had a one night staycation here. The room came with the moon cake for an additional P500. Regular price is more than 2,000.
The restaurant Paparazzi is on the second floor. There’s an art exhibit featuring watercolor paintings by Anita Magsaysay-Ho. Nanay ko po, P4.5M daw itong set of 3. Watercolor yan, tamang-tama pag bumagyo at tumulo ang kisame, burado na ang milyon-milyon mo.
Pangit ang lighting. Tila sobrang pulupot naman ako.
We asked for water, they served us this 4 bottles.
Nyke——–“We have that in the ref”.
Oyen——–“Yah, mommy’s water”.
Omb——— “Except, the price here is probably 10x more”.
We saw Edmund’s friend Philip Santos eating in the other restaurant.
I wasn’t hungry yet.
The bread was soft and the artichoke dip was good.
Edmund and I both ordered lobster bisque.
Nyke’s appetizer, scallops wrapped in bacon.
Nyke likes to have red wine with his meal but in a few seconds after drinking, his asthma of the skin starts to flare up. Then in a few minutes, his eyes would turn red, and the rest of his face, neck, etc. turn red too.
I went for Vongole.
Omb——-“Waiter, yung vongle nyo ba fresh yung clams? Gusto ko fresh na fresh”.
Waiter—- “Fresh mam”.
Oyen’s pasta is parang ikinula sa puti.
Edmund’s, salmon and lobster pasta with tomato sauce. He said it’s very good. He left some for me and Oyen to taste. Delicious indeed.
Nyke’s lamb chops, as always. Among the four of us, he’s been to this restaurant the most. He keeps coming back for the lamb. But he claims this is not the best lamb. The best, in his opinion, is the one in a restaurant by the water in Lucerne.
I don’t want to say how old Edmund is. If you remove the vat, withholding tax and service charge, you would be able to compute my real age.
Nyke picked up the tab.
Dad———–“What’s wrong with me paying?”
Nyke————-“You’ve been paying for my meals for the past 22 years, now it’s my turn”.
Dad———– “Woh. Thank you”.
Since I started working, I’ve been paying for everything na rin for my parents like when we dine in sa restaurants etcetera. I buy my mum bags and watches for my dad. It’s the least I can do. After all, they paid for my education which got me my current job 😀
