Pareng Oks - Oh My Buhay

It was only 5 pm when we went out of the movie house on Monday afternoon. As soon as we got out of the building, in front of their tiangee, Edmund saw someone we knew. Si Oks yun ah.

I looked and saw a guy in a yellow orange stripes shirt with a young woman in tow. They were holding hands. I got so excited, I said “Batiin natin, kasama ang anak nya”.
Edmund said “anak ba nya yun?”
A———- “That’s his daughter, bilis batiin natin”.

They reached the fountain, ang bilis nila.

I was excited to say hello to him. I haven’t seen him for 20 years. I was a candle sponsor at his wedding with our family friend R.

We walked faster but too bad my plastic slippers lived up to their names– slippers.
Ang dulas dulas, since it was raining, they’re wet and very slippery. I couldn’t even walk.

The guy, supposed to be OKS (let’s call him Oks, baka pagalitan ako ni Edmund) , turned his head and I saw him looked at Edmund. Natuwa ako, I expected him to stop and say hi to us. He didn’t. But he saw Edmund, I was 100% sure, kasi no other people around aside from us, and how could one miss Edmund? But he didn’t say hi, so I told Edmund “Tart hindi iyan si Oks, kasi hindi tayo kilala”.
Edmund was 100% sure profile daw ni Oks. Oks na oks.

Me——- “Sure ka?
Edmund—- “oo”
Me——– “Halika habulin natin”.

They walked very fast and he went around the post, tapos took the escalator. Bwisit naman tsinelas ko hindi ako makalakad. Mumurahin kasi P150.

They walked to the connecting ledge towards the new Eastwood Mall, hinabol namin, but we didn’t see them anymore. Palagay ko nagtago, ang bilis nilang nawala.

Edmund was positive that that was our kumpareng Oks, but didn’t want us to see him because he was with another woman. A very young one, siguro between 28-32. Oks must be 65.

Edmund and I were arguing if that’s his daughter. Edmund told me he was nervous I would tell Oks, “ay ang laki na pala ng anak mo”.
