Piccadilly to Chinatown

May 8, 2019

It’s funny because we keep eating Chinese food every time we’re in London. But when we are in Manila, I seldom go to a Chinese restaurant. Edmund goes more frequently with his golf mates and friends.

We are staying in Holiday Inn Mayfair, steps from The Ritz Hotel and the Fortnum and Mason department store both located along Piccadilly. The hotel is old but the location is superb, it’s surrounded by shops, high-end car showrooms, cheese stores, etc. But still, my husband prefers to be where Chinatown is.

We walked to Chinatown passing thru Piccadilly Circus where tourists sit and take selfies beside the fountain.

Chinatown was only a ten minute walk from Holiday Inn Mayfair.

Bitso-bitso (bicho-bicho)
I saw a Chinese bakery selling my favorite bicho bicho. I wanted to buy but we’re going to dinner, I would lose my appetite.

Most of the restaurants in Chinatown offer the same variety of dishes. The prices are also similar but in certain cases you could save $3- $5 per dish depending on the restaurant.

It was our first time at this Lotus Garden restaurant. In the past, every time we passed by, all the tables were occupied.

The restaurant looked cleaner and a little bit more upgraded than those we frequented before.

My favorite thing in London Chinatown was the aromatic duck. It has the same price as the Peking duck but it’s less fatty.

Mayabang ba pag ipinapakita ang resibo? This is a souvenir and to document where we ate. Twenty years from now, when I review this blog, I am sure I would gush at how cheap our meal was. “Wow, ang mura pala nuong araw, parang presyo lang ng siopao ngayon”.
