Before the Holy Mass ended, there was an announcement about those who wish to adopt or foster a child. Julienne and I immediately went to the information table located at the main entrance of the Christ the King Parish manned by Norfil Foundation. I was given a lot of flyers to distribute to friends and relatives.
There were several times in the past that I contemplated on adopting a baby. I even attended a one hour orientation on how to go about adoption. But there were lots of concerns and issues. So adoption was out, why not take care of a baby for 6 months or until someone comes to permanently adopt it? My husband said, I might get attached to the baby and when it’s time to surrender the baby to the new parents, baka daw iiyak-iyak ako.
The church announcement rekindled my daughter and I’s interest. So that night, the two of us spent at least an hour in the kitchen, analyzing and dissecting the possibilities. Ah ah – parang it woud be a No Go again.
I know of some friends who have adopted children and they praise the heavens. They loved the kids so dearly. There are also those that are encountering some problems like the adopted daughter started stealing from them to send the money to her impoverished biological parents.
Five years ago, our fomer household helper asked for my help to find new parents for her neighbor’s baby. I text blast every cel number listed on my celphone. One responded. Long story short, the new parents were truly grateful and happy. 500 people attended the baptismal party. The boy now lives in a beautiful house, with two yayas, and pampered by lolas, lolos, titos and titas.
