I am embarking on a renovation challenge to turn an almost 20 year old house into something that’s homey, simple and yet elegant within a limited budget. Renovating a house is tricky and could be more stressful than building a new one. If you are not construction savvy, you could shatter your wallet into pieces. There are horror stories from misses and failures. Finding the right contractor plays the biggest factor. They can turn your house into shambles and your budget cleaned out.
This project will take a year because I am doing it part-time. Patigil-tigil, pakonti-konti lang. Sourcing for finishing materials would be difficult because of time and logistical factors.
I am not yet sure what style I will decorate it with. Modern is out because it’s trendy and I don’t want something that goes out of style. I am leaning towards using re-purposed wood on two walls to give the rooms more character. We’ll see how this project goes.
