Shopping at Trappist Gift Shop

One of the things I asked the tourist assistance desk at the Jordan patalan in Guimaras was where I could shop for souvenirs and a canteen to have a cold drink. I guess this was the place recommended by the local tourist office because this was where the tricycle driver took me and my taxi driver / tour guide / porter Fernando.

I went shopping. I asked the cashier if the hats were made in the island, she answered no. And she doesn’t know where. Meron lang daw silang supplier from Manila. There’s a big possiblity that the hats are made in China, not from Guimaras, not from Iloilo, not from Bicol, but from our good friendly neighbor, sea co-sharer, China. Still, I bought three straw hats for P110 each.

I have the habit of buying stuff just for patronage. Most of the time I don’t get to eat or even give them away. I hope this macaroons taste good.

  1. Famous this trappist monks in Guimaras. Good u were able to go..i plan to visit some relatives there in the island by summer…Mango festival..Maybe if the planned bridge connecting Guimaras to Iloilo would be finished, travel between the 2 islands would be a lot easier..Everyday I could go to Iloilo by car..

    1. Hi,
A bridge connecting the Panay Islands would be fantastic.
Accessibility would translate to economic progress for the distant towns.
