The Growling Tigers Lost

It was heavy traffic along EDSA, with thousands of vehicles all trooping to MOA Arena.  We were lucky to have arrived at 3 pm,  half-hour ahead of the 3:30 pm start.
It was my first time here at the Mall of Asia Arena. I thought they built something bigger than the Araneta Coliseum but it looked a lot smaller. It also looks smaller than the Ultra. The MOA arena may have more seats than ULTRA because the seats are more compact. They also looked removable which made me shake everytime the person 4 seats away shook his legs.  One person moved, the whole row shook.

The estimated number of people was 20,000 divided into blue and yellow. I think medyo lamang ang yellow kung sa paramihan lang ang laban.

Let’s fight…

UST Growling tigers vs. ADMU Blue Eagles

I was not able to capture all the fancy reactions of Coach Pido Jarencio during the game. Parang bang gusto na nyang siya ang pumasok sa court. I could just imagine the tension of being the coach.

UST was leading till the second half, but lagged behind beginning on the third quarter. The Blue Eagles were really good and determined. They have a star in Salva. UST boys were equally good but towards the second half, they started making a lot of mishaps. Para bang biglang naging kudrado yung goal, ayaw ma-shoot yung bola. Jeric Teng from the Growling Tigers was UST’s star yesterday.

I had a bit of nostalgia, I remembered when we were still in college, Edmund playing for the Glowing Goldies as I calmly watched. I was more expressive yesterday, jumping, screaming and cheering.

The woman behind us was jeering and shouting invectives at the UST players. I did not bother to look at her because baka mahampas ko sya ng bag.

Nakahabol….

There were so many bad calls, notwithstanding the fact that I was kampi with UST, the referee did make a lot of bad calls from the beginning against UST.

The last call was very crucial as it took away any chance from the UST team to fight for the last 15 seconds.
This clip showed the commotion from the UST coaching team, protesting to the referee the bad call, but to no avail.

After the dust has settled, we were the talunan.
Congratulations to UST Growling Tigers for reaching this far.
Congratulations to ADMU Blue Eagles for winning game 1 of the Best of Three.
We hope to win on thursday. Go USTe go! otherwise, Go home tayo….

I almost forgot, maraming salamat to Boy Sablan and Pido Jarencio for the tickets.
