I would like to share this story so that we increase our awareness on the dangers of tetanus.
From omb reader, Truff:
“My grandpa passed away just a few days ago. After 1 month sa hospital (almost 2m na bill), he didn’t get better. He begged us to take him home ..pagod na daw sya sa kaka-injection at hirap na din sa catheter.
He survived cancer but TETANUS got him. He thought he was safe from tetanus coz he had a vaccine just a year ago. Didn’t bother to get a booster shot when he got a tiny scratch on his hand. Doctors didn’t even know it was tetanus till after a week at the hospital..akala nila stroke daw.
It sucks coz he beat cancer, only to die from tetanus”.
Condolence to the family of Truff.. May his Lolo’s soul find eternal repose in Heaven..
Condolence. Hospitals are haven for germs. That’s why after 7 days of hospitalization, most patients acquire nosocomial infection with the most common one – pneumonia. Tetanus is very common in dirt or soil and perhaps also in hospitals. What I know is it causes locked jaw, it may have compromised airway..
Thank you Miss Annie for spreading awareness on tetanus. Joey is right, my lolo actually died from pneumonia he acquired while in the hospital for tetanus treatment. He also had several complications brought by tetanus…his kidneys were failing, he had pneumonia, and etc.
Tetanus is basically a death sentence. If you are old, chances are you won’t survive.
