Twinkle and her daughter Mikka

Background:

Len and Bong’s Yorkies, Lucky and Mochi gave birth to many cute puppies ages ago and upon my husband’s request, they wholeheartedly gave us a female puppy. I got her all the necessary permits to bring her home. Bong accompanied me to the US Consulate and I told the consul Twinkle will move to the Philippines for good. Mag T- TNT na sya.

Once I got the papers, including the permits from Manila, I booked her an airline ticket which cost me around $400 at that time. I bet now it’s more expensive as every thing has becoming costly.

Twinkle arrived at the Manila International Airport (NAIA) shaken, tired, hungry, thirsty, and whimpy.

PUPPY TWINKLE

She adjusted well to her new environment and proved that her climbing and Houdini skills were excellent. Always getting out of our tall fences, we found ourselves yelling and calling out her name while scouringnthe streets looking for her. our neighborhood, including the village security guards, learned her name by hearing our loud cries TWINKLE! TWINKLE!!!

Not once, not twice, not a dozen times, we received calls from the village security to pick up Twinkle from their impound. Once, she was found looking disoriented in someone else’s driveway. Once, she was walking on the sidewalk. Another time, she bit a street cleaner on the leg (buti na lang galos lang).

LETTING YOUR DOG LOOSE, alone, without a leash, carries a fine of P2,000 per instance. Glad that the guards were considerate.

Twinkle used to be Edmund’s walking companion. She would manage to free herself from the leash and chase cats. Even the dozens of bodyguards of Mr. Aguiluz already knew her because Twinkle always sends their cats scampering from fear while Edmund screams Twinkle! Twinkle!.

When she got older, she couldn’t take long walks anymore. She would stop walking in the middle of the street and Edmund would end up carrying her instead.

She almost died from a fight with our Dalmstiin Lucy. She didn’t realize she was no match to the fierce Lucy. Twinkle’s body was was already dangling on Lucy’s mouth before the drivers and guards, were able to separate them. She suffered several cuts and puncture wounds. The vet gave her several stitches.

Little did we know that Nyke’s male shihtzu, TYLER, and TWINKLE were engaging in some mahalay activities in our garage. She soon gave birth to several puppies. Since we had so many dogs already, we gave away most of her puppies to friends. Some lucky recipients were Chit Juan, Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., Johnny Litton’s apo, Ann Pamintuan who gave it to her son, Mervin (Nyke’s friend).

My last interaction with Twinkle via Zoom before she died.

TYLER, DOG

Chit Juan gave the puppy to Reena Francisco who gave it to her dad. Reena is the co-owner snd founder or ECHO Store together with Chit, and Jeannie Javelosa.

Mikka, dog

What happened next was an endearing story about Reena’s dad falling in love with the puppy, which he named Mikka, who became his emotional support, love, joy, and sweet companion.

This is Mikka now, at 9 years old.
