Window shopping in NY part 2 - Oh My Buhay

Window shopping in NY part 2

I am not suplada but I really find the subway’s smell bantot. The station below the Port Authority has the most repulsive smell. Amoy toilet na hindi nalinis ng tatlong buwan. The homeless most likely are the culprits.

003

At least there’s balance. As soon as we got out of the subway, the Central Park naman provided us with a relief with its lush greeneries and clean surroundings.
004

Better to ride at dusk, mainit sa tanghali.
005

Few years ago, there were no fresh juice stands, only hotdogs, drinks. Then came the grilled meats with rice, shawarma, etc.
006

The former Plaza Hotel is under major renovation. Its covered with felt or tarpaulin printed with windows that look real at first or even at second glance.
I think they’re converting this building into multi-million dollar residences.
I’ve stayed at the Plaza a few times. The first time I stayed here I even saw Donald Trump walking in the lobby. He stood out kasi ang tangkad and he had a very imposing look.
012

Bergdorf Goodman is where I bought my pair of black suede Bruno Magli step-in.
That was some 16 years ago. I found it very expensive at $350. Sale pa nga yun, dahil the original price was $550.

I had buyers remorse for 3 days, sumakit ang tyan ko sa pagsisisi. Believe me, I had sleepless nights. I was living beyond my means. I even asked myself, feeling first lady ba ako at bibili ako ng ganyang kamahal na step-in. I wanted to return it but I ran out of time kasi paalis na ako.

That purchase turned out to be a very good one in the long run. It was indeed expensive but I was able to use the sandals in most important meetings and special occasions. Naka ilang balik na yun sa Malacanang. I have worn it under long gowns. Until now, I still use it once in a while on special events. It’s durable. It hasn’t been repaired even once.

014

016

My daughter unwillingly went with me inside Louis Vuitton. She actually discourages me from buying because it’s baduy na daw. Sobrang common na kasi, origs plus the fake ones. The common ones are of course the less expensive ones.

There’s a medium size patent leather that I’ve been eyeing since last year but I am still thinking about it. I have a white one but I found it kind of big especially when I am wearing a dress. Parang hindi bagay. The price difference kasi was not that big kaya I took the bigger one. After a year, I realized I should’ve bought the medium size instead.

019

I saw a nice pair, Oyen said “Mom, make sure you’re going to wear them. You haven’t worn the chunky one. Have you worn it? I haven’t seen you wear it”.
Eto kasing Salvatore Ferragamo, masakit sa paa. Nakakainis. Dati I never bothered to look at their stuff but for some reason, the past few years, I have bought several pairs. Lahat masakit sa paa!
022

Sobrang uso ang animal prints. I cannot wear these things, my family will tease me.
023

Ohh, this is cute.
Oyen——- “Mom, make sure you’ll wear them”.
Para akong may kasamang younger version ni Suze Orman.
025

We’re now inside the Bally store
Oyen—– “I wonder how many poodles they have killed to make that…..”
(laughs)
030

Me——– “Anak, eto yung terno”.
(laughs)
032

Animal prints again, this time in Gucci
034

I haven’t bought a single pair of Gucci shoes.
035

Our eyes caught that tiny purse inside Gucci’s escaparate.
Oyen——- “Oh Mom, that’s so cute”.
Me——— “Anak, coin purse”.
036

Excuse me, may I see that? How much is this?
I opened it and looked at the tag price. $175, down to $122.
I read it aloud, One Hundred Twenty Two.
Sa loob-loob ko, ang mahal naman, coin purse lang ang liit-liit, at walang zipper, malalag-lag ang coins.

The sales guy gave me a bewildered look. He opened it and double-checked the price tag. He said “One thousand two hundred twenty nine. The original price is one thousand seven hundred fifty”.

Whooo!
Namahalan na nga ako sa $122, $1,229 pa!
037

I need a shoulder bag that is small enough for travelling but big enough to carry my wallet, medicines, perfume, Giga peppermint rub, etc. Pag nagpapasyal lang or going to the movies. I bought a white Dior from Saks Fifth Avenue long long time ago pero madumihin kasi white. After a year, hindi na sya maganda, madungis na.
This Prada has the perfect size. The price is also reasonable at $420. Binulatlat ko, Made in India. Some Prada bags are Made in China.
Pass muna. I will just try to clean my old Dior, maikula, baka pumuti.
038

Sakit na paa ko, wala pa akong nabibili. Dresses kaya?
$900+
Pass
040

$1,300
Pass
041

“Anak, I’m going to look at their shoes”.
“Make sure you’ll wear them”.
(Aling Konsyensya)
042

“Anak nice oh”.
“But you don’t wear heels”.
043

Animal printed dress by Yves Saint Laurent $1,950
045

046

YSL shoes, discounted, but still expensive
047

We went to Tori Burch which is now very popular among Asians.
Parang palengke sa dami ng tao. They reminded me of Coach, ganyan sa loob ng Coach stores. Ngayon, Tori Burch, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade are in demand because their designs are nice too, but more affordable to many. Instead of buying a $3,000 Prada, their bags are only in the $300++ range.
048

049

050

Parang may panic buying
052

“Anak, look, Tori Burch has nice clothes pala. I like this”.
Yen—— “I don’t like the pockets”.
051

053

054

I tried on a pair of flat beige sandals. I showed it to Oyen and she approved it.
I got size 7 and was hugging the box, about to go to the cashier.
It’s my SOP to ask where the items are made.
Me to Sales Guy———- “Hi, where was this made?”
Sales Guy—————- “Philippines”.
Me———————– “Anak, made in the Philippines daw”.
Oyen——————— “That’s weird”.
Me———————– “That is weird”.
Oyen——————— “O ano? Are you getting it?”
Me———————– “Anak ang dami ko ng beige na tsinelas. Di ko pa naisuot yung binili ko sa Rockwell”.
Okay, pass.
