When Edmund found out that I was going to Farmers Market this morning, he asked “anong bibilhin mo dun?”. In short, he thought my trip was unnecessary because I could get everything from the supermarket. He made a litany of how he bought our supplies from Shopwise and Hypermart.
I didn’t want to go to the grocery. I want to buy something specific from the wet market.
First, I like them fresh. I don’t want to buy frozen tuna belly. I am also buying lots and lots of pandan leaves. You can’t get this from the supermarket. Meron sila putol potol na. I will put the pandan in a flower vase para bumango ang paligid ng bahay. Basta, I want to go to the palengke. Period.
I bought some sili, sawsawan for the grilled tuna belly that I would cook for lunch.
I also bought some fresh flowers to go with the pandan leaves.
Lovely orange roses
Bagong pitas sa puno na Camachile, wala yan sa grocery.
fresh sampaloc, yung local, hindi Bangkok
From Camiguing Tarlac, lanzones na kay tamis at sarap may kasama pang mga langgam
Today’s one of the rare times that I personally cooked our meal.
I sprinkled the slabs of tuna belly with rock salt and black pepper. Grilled in a pan, with minced garlic and some butter just enough to grease the pan.
Pan-friend thin slices of beef sirloin with toyo, pepper and garlic.
Pan -seared jumping white shrimps with rock salt
My family finished all the food that I prepared. Except for the beef which Edmund said was slightly overcooked. Konti lang din ang natira.
