Macopa at Gatas ng Kalabaw

I went to the market again yesterday, but this time I brought along our cook Cherry. She was the one who went to the fish and meat section. I gave her half hour to buy the items on my list because I didn’t want to spend time waiting for her. Ang bilis nya, before I could even finish buying fruits, I saw her running, tapos na daw sya. Hmm good girl.
I just bought pandan, fruits and flowers.

Macopa reminded me of my childhood. Mapakla ito di ba?
Story says that long long time ago, there was an unknown tree in the churchyard, it bore fruits that were pinkish and shaped like bells. The locals didn’t know what it’s called. They described its shape as parang kopa and since there were so many fruits, they said “maraming kopa” or ma-kopa.

P50 a bottle, fresh gatas ng kalabaw. A woman said singkwenta? Sa Zambales beinte lang yan. We all know the answer to that.

When I was little, there was an old woman who came to our house regularly at 5 in the morning and delivered a bottle of fresh gatas ng kalabaw for my parents. If I still remember it right, parang 35 centavos per bottle. HIndi pa uso ang deposito sa botelya nung araw. She collected the empty bottles every other day.

I bought one kilo of pandan for P60 and half-dozen anthurium for P150. I didn’t haggle na, it was tiring.
