I look different now

I am happy with what a lot of our kababayan in America have achieved for themselves but I feel disappointed that a lot of them remain parochial in their mindsets.

Some haven’t changed. From Binangonan to America, their way of thinking remain the same. Despite jumping from a big town to a huge modern city such as Los Angeles or New York, their mindsets have not expanded. It’s still narrow. Higher education, work experience, travel and social exposure should make people more broad minded.

Some of them were wondering how come I now look different insinuating that I had medical interventions done on my face so I would look pretty. Of course I now look different. When did you guys last see me? Forty years ago, thirty? I don’t blame you. Even I, don’t recognize my face sometimes. And who is this old, fat and ugly woman? It’s disappointing that my face changed and continue to change. That’s called aging.

Photo taken 3 years ago, see the big difference? This is prior to the tsunami stresses I experienced two years in a row which sped up the aging process. Three years ago lang yan pero ang laki ng itinanda ko di ba?

Thank you for saying gumanda ako. Pero hindi ako pangit dati. Walang pangit sa pamilya namin sabi ng mama ko. Maybe you found me ugly before. The skinny beanpole is now an aging woman nearing retirement. Of course I look different now. Tumaba na ako, tumanda, nagbago na ang mukha ko, dami ng pileges at sunspots. Malapit na ring malagas ang mga ngipin ko.

Kayo talaga makikitid ang mga pag-iisip. Huwag kayong mainggit, hindi ako nagpa face lift, o nagpa nose lift, babangon sa sementeryo si Ka Felicing kung gagawin ko yon. Hamo, pag nagpa botox ako, ipo-post ko before and after, pero baka 5 years from now pa yun. Mag-iipon muna ako ng lakas ng loob at takot ako sa injection.
