Extreme Toothache while in Finland

Extreme Toothache While in Finland

March 15, 2018

We were brought back to our cabin after the ice fishing. Kilpissafarit let us keep our snow gears for the next activity that evening.

My tooth ache escalated to a 10/10 and my body was already shaking from the pain. I could feel that whatever was causing this extreme pain, it had reached the whole of my lower right jaw. Half of my neck was already in grave discomfort. I was feeling some constriction in my throat which worried me. I still have trauma from my two consecutive bouts of throat infection when I was in Las Vegas so until now when I am feeling some discomfort in my throat medyo worried na agad ako.

The problem in venturing out in remote areas is the absence of emergency medical care. No doctors here much more dentists. There are only 100 residents and sino ang magpapabunot ng ngipin? For me to reach the nearest dentist would be a 200 kilometer drive. Edmund told Oyen to cut short our trip so we could go home. I said no. I didn’t want to spoil what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime holiday arranged by my daughter.
I took Biogesic and it seemed to arrest the pain better than the 4 Ponstan capsules I had taken in the past 24 hours.

I contacted my dentist, Dra. Elizabeth Carrasco and she told me I could have an infection that’s why the pain didn’t want to subside. I brought Amoxyl with me so I felt a little relaxed knowing that I have emergency medicines.

I did the old-age remedy of washing my mouth with lukewarm water with salt.
Naubos na ang salt dun sa restaurant pero hindi naman nabawasan ang pain. I also put snow-pack on my jaw and cheek to help numb the pain. It helped a bit. Just a little bit. But the salt and warm water? Wahhh epek.

There were moments when the pain felt unbearable, my tears would just fall.
When the pain was somewhere between 6 below, I could somehow managed it. Masakit rin pero kayang tiisin but when it’s a 7 and up, ayyy naku ang sakit talaga.

My husband blamed me for not having this tooth extracted last year. Moving forward daw, pag-uwi ko ipabunot ko na agad or as soon as we’ve found a dentist. Eh kasi ang sabi nung dentist, i-ru-root canal. Eh ayaw ko nga kasi masakit and it would take 4 sessions, one each week.

Etong ipin ko walang pakisama. Every time ako nagba-byahe, agaw pansin. Last year it was also around this month that it gave me trouble. I remembered saying ang aga naman ng penitensya ko. Eto na naman. Ang aga talaga ng penitensya ko.

  1. Have a root canal na Ann. You just have to go back to the dentist a number of times but not really painful because u will be given anaesthesia. Be well.
