My daughter gave birth to her second baby boy. Twenty-four hours after giving birth, she wasn’t producing enough breast milk yet to feed her baby. The hospital nurse came and fed the baby with pasteurized breast milk from a cup to augment the baby’s milk intake.
There’s a baby boy born two weeks ago also in St. Luke’s in Bonifacio Global City. He and his mom had been discharged already more than a week ago but the boy got dehydrated and lost a lot of weight. Yun pala, he’d been latching but very little milk was coming out of the mom’s breasts. Kaya namayat at na de hydrate. For 24 hours he neither peed nor pood. Eh kasi walang laman ang tyan. Kawawa naman. He’s now in the incubator and in dextrose which is a quick source of cellular energy and metabolism.
Dapat pala titingnan kung merong breast milk na lumalabas. Don’t be too complacent that just because the baby is latching means the baby is feeding well. I hope he gets better soon.
This is our Baby Dylan. The nurse came and fed him again breast milk but through the cup.
